The Weight of the Cross

A Broadcast with R.C. Sproul

So great was the physical weight of Jesus' cross that the Roman soldiers had to enlist Simon of Cyrene to help Him carry it (Matt. 27:32). Yet the physical weight of the cross cannot be compared to the weight of sin that Jesus carried to Calvary. Dr. R.C. Sproul looks at the weight of sin and God's wrath that Jesus bore as the sinless substitute for His people, explaining that Good Friday is good because in bearing this weight, Christ takes it off of us when we trust in Him alone for salvation.

God calls His people to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. This transformation of thinking God’s thoughts after Him is a daily pursuit. To aid you in this, Renewing Your Mind broadcasts a daily message and related resource offer that exposits the glories of God revealed in the Bible against the backdrop of culture, philosophy, apologetics, ethics, and church history. Think of it as bridging the gap between Sunday school and seminary—equipping you for the Christian life.
