The Cycle of Judges
A Broadcast with R.C. Sproul
When Joshua died, the conquest of Canaan was still incomplete, and the people of Israel were without a king. As a result, the Israelites were caught up in a cycle of sin and repentance. Every time they succumbed to the temptations of their idolatrous neighbors, God would raise up a judge to lead them back to repentance; men and women like Samson, Deborah and Gideon. Yet every time a judge died, the people would return to idolatry.
